What A Year! - 2015 Summary

2015 - What a Year!
As we prepare for new adventures in 2016
we wanted to take a moment to reflect on 2015 with excitement and pride.
JANUARY
ISRAEL ON STAGE

We started the year by co-founding a new non-profit organization that supports all Israeli artists who want to perform in the USA. Israel on Stage, a brainchild of former Israeli cultural attaché Sarit Arbell and founder of Teev Events David Azulay, was launched at the prestigious APAP (Association for Performing Arts Presenters) conference in NYC with the support of many organizations and artists including the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Our beautiful and successful booth was attended by many interested presenters who want to bring Israeli culture at its best to their communities and Arts Centers.

FEBRUARY
TIMES OF ISRAEL GALA

On February 15th, Teev Events produced the biggest, most glamorous gala ever produced in the U.S. for an Israeli organization. The Times of Israel Gala, held at the Waldorf Astoria in New York, featured the honorable Shimon Peres as the keynote speaker and bestowed awards on many of Israel's finest men and women from all walks of life such as actress Gal Gadot, top model Bar Refaeli, founder of Waze Uri Levine, inventor of the Iron Dome Danny Gold, prof. Alan Dershowitz, singer Miri Mesika, basketball legend Derrick Sharp, and many others. The gala was a completely sold-out event and was featured in almost every news outlet in Israel and in the U.S. including CNN, Fox News, The New York Times and The Washington Post.

ASAF AVIDAN AND THE MOJOS
Teev Events produced and managed the Asaf Avidan North American tour of 12 major cities across the U.S. and Canada.

MARCH
RITA
We started the month with the amazing and talented Rita performing for 14,000 delegates at the AIPAC national convention in Washington, DC. Rita continued from there to perform in several cities in the U.S.
DANNY, GIDI AND FRIENDS
After the historic reunion of the legendary band Kaveret in the summer of 2013, Teev Events looked for the right opportunity to bring this show to the U.S. In partnership with IAC, we produced a five-city tour from New York to Boston, Las Vegas to San Francisco, finishing in Los Angeles. The tour was extremely successful with all the shows selling out and audiences raving. It was a pure pleasure to travel with these legends, an experience we will cherish for life.

APRIL AND MAY
THE IDAN RAICHEL PROJECT
The powerful and inspiring Project returned to the U.S. for another sold-out concert at the Beacon Theater in NYC and from there to major cities around the U.S. finishing with Yom Ha'Atzmaut celebrations in Washington, DC and Cleveland, OH. On this tour we also featured Idan's special solo college program titled "An hour with Idan Raichel". In this unique inside peek into the creative process behind the Idan Raichel Project-one of the most successful world music groups in the world today-Idan discusses the diverse influences on his music, his inspirations, and his motivations. He talks about his work with musicians from around the world and diverse musical traditions and the challenges of fusing them all together. The hour also included Q & A and Idan also demonstrated and played a few of his songs while accompanying himself on piano.

HADAG NAHASH
The Yom Ha'atzmaut celebrations continued with the high energy, most fun, and the best partying band in Israel "Hadag Nahash". In a sold-out concert at Brooklyn's CBE, Hadag started the tour with a bang with special guest Matisyahu, and from there moved to Baltimore (on the day the riots started!), Los Angeles, and finished with a great show at the Ravinia Festival in Chicago.

WORLD ORT CONFERENCE IN NYC
Teev Events, together with our Israeli partner Hanoch Rudik, proudly produced a three-day conference for World ORT at the New York Hilton Midtown. The conference included delegates from all over the world, several assemblies, and a gala dinner.  Teev Events negotiated with the hotel, coordinated all the logistics of the conference, as well as managed all the technical aspects of it. The conference was a great success!
SHLOMI SHABAT
Partnering again with IAC we brought Israeli superstar Shlomi Shabat to perform in three Celebrate Israel Festivals in Miami, Las Vegas, and Los Angeles as well as two major concerts in New York and Toronto. The festivals were attended by tens of thousands of people and the concerts were a big success.

ETHNIX / HADAG NAHASH
A cancelled show is hardly something that people put in the highlights of the year, BUT, this one has a unique story. On Friday morning as we were setting up for the Celebrate Israel festival in NYC, we got the news that the American embassies all over the world has a computer problem that is preventing them from issuing all ALREADY APPROVED visas and that therefore they can'tissue the visas for Ethnix. From that point on, it was all about trying not to disappoint our client in Boston that was getting ready for a big Celebrate Israel Festival with Ethnix as the headliners. We started calling every Israeli artist we work with that we knew already had work visa. It was Friday night in Israel, so these people were at Shabbat dinner with their families as we're calling them with this crazy request to drop everything and be at the airport in the morning. Within two hours, we presented the Boston festival organizers with three amazing options to replace Ethnix. They chose Hadag Nahash and from that point on we had an operation: book all the flights, transportation, and hotels; handle all the technical changes; and make sure we have a stage ready for Hadag Nahash. Hadag landed on Saturday afternoon and drove from NYC to Boston. Sunday early morning they did the sound check and everything was ready for the big show. Unfortunately, severe rain storms arrived in Boston in the afternoon. We were ready for rain but not for something like that, and the show was cancelled. You could say that we had such bad luck this weekend, but we think that we were lucky. We are lucky to have such good friends, such amazing artist that are willing to do anything to help, and great and loyal colleagues that will not sleep until all is done and who live and breathe the "show must go on" mantra. We're especially grateful to Na'ama Ore, the Executive Director of IAC in Boston, for believing in us and supporting us throughout the whole situation. It is good to know that we have friends that we can count on in good times and bad.

JUNE
ELAL LAUNCH TEL AVIV BOSTON NONSTOP
At the end of June we returned to Boston (this time to an indoor venue...) to produce the celebration of ELAL's launch of the only nonstop flight from Boston to Israel. We had several celebrations happening around town and the main one was a big concert with Shlomi Shabat attended by over 1,000 people from the Boston community. The celebrations were a great success and ELAL was a very happy client.

JULY AND AUGUST
MOVING TO LOS ANGELES
After 23 years of operating from Maryland we decided to move our office and home to California. We settled into our home in Calabasas and opened a beautiful office in Encino, California. It is exciting to be here and we are looking forward to many new opportunities here.
